Dear participant,
thank you for your interest in the FoodMood study, which is a collaboration between the University of Akureyri (Iceland) and the University of Graz (Austria). This survey will ask you for your e-mail address and whether you live either in Austria or Iceland during October and November 2022.
The study consists of three online sessions for which you will receive a link via email before October 17th (first session), October 31st (second session), and November 14th (third session). You can participate any time within the week after the link was sent out, but we ask you to participate in each session at roughly the same time of the day and day (e.g., Monday at 7:00 am). Participation is only possible via PC/laptop (and not via smartphone or tablet) because you will need a physical keyboard and mouse/touchpad for participation. Psychology students from Akureyri and Graz can receive course credit for their participation (an individual code will be provided after the third session).
During the three sessions, we will collect the following data:
- Demographic data: Age, gender, and if you are a University student or not.
- Salzburg Emotional Eating Scale (only during the first session).
- Appetite-, hunger- and mood.
- Diet (e.g., vegan).
- Weight and height.
- Responses in a reaction time task (Modified Dot-Probe Task).
We will store your e-mail separately from the data collected during the three sessions and will delete your stored e-mail before the end of 2022.
The collected data will be used for research purposes and made available online anonymously (Open Science Framework, OSF). However, we will not publish any data that could identify you (by this mean, e.g., exact age, height or weight will not be included in the online dataset).
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, which in Austria is the Austrian Data Protection Authority, Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, phone: +43 1 52 152-0, e-mail: dsb@dsb.gv.at.
